While New York Fashion Week holds hundreds of fashion shows on average each season, we are covering those making the sidewalk their catwalk. Before stepping foot into the show, you are surrounded by looks from head-to-toe on the streets and subway. We have had our eyes peeled, so here are some of the top rising streetwear trends we have seen that you might have missed.
Styles & Fabrics
This summer, we saw the sporty athletic style soar in popularity. Transitioning into fall, we see the trend staying strong but being paired with blazers and multiple layers to keep warm. A feminine addition to the fall wardrobe is sheer dresses and skirts. For styling this trend, people are either layering it up or wearing nothing underneath at all.

Whether it is subtle or the whole outfit, sequined pieces have been dazzling NYFW. This elevates the outfit, adding texture and visual appeal with movement and light reflection. Denim variations have been seen far and wide. For this fall, the Canadian tuxedo is a favorite. This is a trend that can be highly utilized and flatter anyone.

Prints, Patterns & Color
We could not cover these streetwear trends without talking about cheetah print. Being one of the biggest comebacks this year, cheetah has been styled with other animal prints, made the focal-point of whole outfits and added to looks through accessory pieces. Touching on trending prints, our beloved plaid is back and better than ever. Layering different plaids is a new take on the original styling. Using multiple plaids in a look is not always an easy task to execute, but when done correctly, it is highly impressive.

Every spring, we know to expect florals. However, florals have made an unexpected appearance this fall. The trend is making its moment by appearing through screen printing, appliques, fabric manipulation, and many other methods. Following along, soft baby pink is usually seen in spring colors. During this past week, the elegant baby pink shade has no doubt made its impact for the season.

Accessories & Details
Frequently seen through social media and pinterest, slouchy big bags are everywhere. One piece that can carry you and all of your belongings through the day. Bag charms have been seen accessorizing and personalizing one's bag in a fun way. Bundling up for the fall, trench coats are our fall staple trend. An oversized or a sleek fit style are both in, so choosing which is dependent on personal preference. Making a silhouette statement, shoulder pads are prevalent at this NYFW season. Serving up business formal to mix in with current streetwear. Following the surge in business wear popularity from the summer, it is being modified for the fall.

The simplicity of dressing up your looks by adding small unique details is underrated. Socks usually go unnoticed, but people are changing that narrative. Tall white socks are being used to compliment the look while also being a statement piece. This is a nod to the sporty trend, taking inspiration from soccer athletes. A primary trend seen circulating without much conversation is studded pieces. Seen on an array of grunge jackets and vintage garments, as well as being simple additions on collars and shoes.
